TASK

Drake's Boy Scout troop and Teresa's Girl Guide unit have decided to host a games afternoon so the troops and units in their area can get to know each other. Determine the supplies they will need and how to organize the event.

PROCESS

  1. Drake and Teresa have decided that they will be playing two games:
    • Crokinole

  1. There will be 48 kids in total at the games afternoon. Half the kids will be playing Crokinole and the other half will be playing Chinese Checkers.

  1. Teresa and Drake need to figure out what equipment they should supply.

    3. How many Chinese Checkers pegs (or marbles) will they need for each group? Explain.
    4. How many Chinese Checkers pegs (or marbles) will they need in total? Show your work.
  1. Teresa and Drake have decided to buy bags of marbles to use for Chinese Checkers. Each bag of 126 marbles has an equal number of black, white, blue, red, yellow, and green marbles.
    1. How many marbles of each colour are in a bag of marbles? Use estimation to show that your calculation is reasonable.
    2. How many bags of marbles will they need in total to play Chinese Checkers at the games afternoon? Show your work.
