Instructions for Use

The Comparison Estimator provides students with opportunities to practice estimation skills. Students can compare amounts by estimating the number of objects in two boxes.

To use the Comparison Estimator, set the problem type to 'Random'. To answer a question, choose an item from the pull-down menu that best completes the sentence - "greater than," "less than," or "almost the same as." If you choose "almost the same as," the two shapes must be within 5% (either above or below) of the actual answer. Click the 'Check Answer' button to see if it is correct. Try the next question.
