To encourage your child to have fun on the Web while learning about Solve Problems by Considering all Possibilities, here are some games and interactive activities they can do on their own or in pairs. Instructions for UseProbability lets your child experiment with probability by rolling dice or spinning a spinner. To use Probability, start by selecting the Dice. Choose the number of spins - 1, 5, or 10. Click the 'Spin' button. A tally chart records the results of each spin. Press the 'Clear Tally' button to clear the results and start again. Select the 'Make Dice' button and click in the radio buttons to choose the numbers of each face of the dice. Select the 'New Dice' button to choose different set amounts on the face of the dice. To use the spinners, select 'Preset Spinner'. Choose the number of spins - 1, 5, or 10. Click the 'Spin' button. A tally chart records the results of each spin. Press the 'Clear Tally' button to clear the results and start again. To use 'Make Your own Spinner', select the 'New Spinner' button. To increase or decrease the colour sections, click the '+' or '-' buttons, or drag the black dots on the spinner. Choose the number of spins - 1, 5, or 10. Click the 'Spin' button. A tally chart records the results of each spin. Press the 'Clear Tally' button to clear the results and start again.
Roll the Dice lets your child make predictions and experiment with probability.
To use Roll the Dice, choose the number of dice to roll and the number of times to roll them from the pull-down menus. Click the 'Roll!' button. A graph details the number of rolls and the number of times each sum of the dice was rolled. |
