Instructions for Use

A Mathematics Fantasy allows students to predict and extend patterns in tables.

To use A Mathematics Fantasy, have students determine which is the best payment method: earn one cent on the first day, two cents on the second day, and double your salary every day thereafter for the next thirty days; or earn one million dollars. Students can read through the Web page and study the two payment options to find the results. Encourage students to describe the pattern in the first payment option.
