Lesson 1 - Constructing Symmetrical Shapes

 

Use this interactive activity to encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about constructing symmetrical shapes. Students can try this activity on their own or in pairs.

Construct 2-D shapes with one line of symmetry.

Instructions for Use

Symmetrical Shapes allows students to construct 2-D shapes with one line of symmetry.

To use Constructing Symmetrical Shapes, on the "object" side of the grid, click squares to form half of a shape. Be sure to connect your shape to the line of symmetry. Click on the grid button to show the reflected image of your shape. The reflected image makes up the other half of your shape.

To change the direction of the line of symmetry, click the star button. The line of symmetry can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal.

Click the "reset" button to start again. Click the "quit" button to exit the program.
