## Lesson 4 - Classifying Triangles by Side Lengths

Use these interactive activities to encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about classifying triangles by side lengths. Students can try these activities on their own or in pairs.

### Goal

Investigate side lengths of triangles.

### Builds Upon

Student Book pages 198-200

### Instructions for Use

Sorting Triangles allows students to identify and sort triangles by type.

To use Sorting Triangles, watch the animated introduction. Then click the "Sort triangles" button. Drag and drop each triangle in the correct location in the Venn diagram. Click the "Next" button to sort the triangles using different properties.

Identifying Triangles by their Sides lets students select the type of triangle based on their sides.

To use Identifying Triangles by their Sides, click the "Start" button. Determine what type of triangle the example is based on the side lengths given. Then click the "Equilateral", "Isosceles", or "Scalene" button. A dialogue box will appear if your answer is incorrect. The text box below the question will indicate if your answer is correct.

Classifying Triangles helps students understand different types of triangles.

To use Classifying Triangles, read the properties for each type of triangle and click on each type to see an example.

Click the "Click to Test Your Understanding" button. A triangle will appear indicating the size of angles and side lengths. Click the triangle. The type of triangle you can classify this triangle as will be highlighted above.
