Lesson 7 - Sorting Polygons

Use this interactive activity to encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about sorting polygons. Students can try this activity on their own or in pairs.

Instructions for Use

Shape Sorter allows students to sort shapes based on their properties in a Venn Diagram .

To use Shape Sorter, click on the button with the three rings to select a Venn diagram. (Start by selecting the diagram with two intersecting circles.) Click on the drop-down menu above each circle to change the properties of the circle. Click on the shapes button to begin sorting shapes. Move the mouse over the Venn diagram. A shape will appear. Position the shape in the correct section of the Venn diagram and then click the mouse. A new shape will appear after each click until all the available shapes are placed. Use the arrow button to select and move the shapes within the Venn diagram. You may want to place some shapes outside the Venn diagram.

To start again, select a new Venn diagram.
