Instructions for UseQuotient Guess and Check prompts students to practice estimating decimal quotients. To use Quotient Guess and Check, print the activity sheet. Have students estimate the closest quotient in a division problem. Have students play a game Quotient Guess and Check with one or more partners. Division cards are stacked face down. One student turns over a card, and each student estimates the quotient of the problem shown. Students write down their estimates and then use a calculator to find the exact answer. The student with the closest estimate earns one point. When there is a tie, the tied students each earn one point. Play proceeds in a clockwise direction. The student with the most points after ten rounds wins the game. |
